ABOUT
US
"After involvement with the
Spiritualist religion and studies in Occult for some 20 years,
it was time to assemble a team, not for money or fame but to
express a common passion for the unknown"
Dave Gibb
In the Spring of 2006 a
team of dedicated paranormal researchers was born. Originating
from Pembroke and Almonte,
Ontario C.H.A.P.S. or the Canadian Haunting
and Paranormal Society took its first steps. The groups original
members were Dave Gibb: a Spiritualist from Oshawa who
transferred to the area, Jenny Flegg: a researcher from Almonte,
Josee Deveault: a military paramedic, along with a few other
interested individuals. Such is life that plans change, things
happen and people have to move on. Josee got called to serve in
Germany, and we lost a few of the other initial people to
various other commitments, so the group had to expand. The
current CHAPS team now includes Shanna Jacklin from Barrhaven as
Team Leader
and Web designer. From Pembroke, Dan Sehn as Tech
Manager/Investigator and Cathy Sehn as Investigator. Also new to
the group is Investigator and Psychic Kim Foster, Jeff Livesey
as the CHAPS Information Technologist, and Sandy Fitzgerald as
the Production Engineer.
As C.H.A.P.S. members, we
are paranormal enthusiast's. Our group is looking to bring the
excitement and passion back to paranormal science.
We seek, because we can, because we enjoy it, and because we
hope to encounter, feel, find, and possibly capture proof of the
beyond.
Our methods, unlike other
groups, consist of a variety of approaches. Most teams either
use a scientific "prove it wrong" approach,
or the polar opposite, a sensationalistic paranormal experience
filled with demonic channeling and so on. We use a proud mix of
science, with a full compliment of equipment, and a strong
emphasis on the spiritual. We do not go in with the mindset to
prove inactivity or activity. We simply
go in to enjoy the investigation, and learn as much as we
possibly can about the unknown.
